As part of the research for my MFA thesis on dimensional typography way back in 1997, I’d interviewed P. Scott Makela, who was one of my mentors and teachers at Cranbrook Academy of Art. I recently found the transcript of our conversation and what Scott had to say still struck me as lively and relevant. Print magazine ran the interview yesterday on the 25th anniversary of Scott’s death. Thanks to Steve Heller, Debbie Millman, and Kim Tidwell!
