Reading

some of my books

I find myself hungry to slow way down, read deliberately, think through what I’m reading. I’ve always been a fast “recognizer” of letterforms, responding to subtitles at the cinema a beat or two before anyone else. But this hasn’t helped my comprehension or deep knowledge at all. I’ve been taking the BIPOC Design History class run by Polymode and my classmates and teachers are a trove of suggestions for readings they’ve found nourishing. This feels like the right time for quiet contemplative self-ed.

I’m starting with bell hooks’ Teaching to Transgress. I also want to get to Paolo Friere after.
